Old People games are Hard!

Golf is one of those games people who have never tried to be good at do not understand. Even if you played casually, you may not understand how hard the game really is. You have too hit a ball that is not moving and follow it. It is not like you are going to miss? Well yes you will, but the point is that what makes the game hard is not apparent to the causal observer. A talented beginner can play amazingly well and spend years playing and never improve. In fact some player can accually get worse by trying really had to learn the game.

So I have been playing bridge, the card game. I have been playing for a couple of weeks now and I have to say. This is a hard game. It involved subtlety and finesse (now one of my lease favorite words) that can boggle the reasoning power of even the most astute observer. For those of you familiar with spades it is a lot like spades if you could change the trump whenever you wanted too, and you played both you and your partner’s hand at once. You have to be able to count all four suite, and remember what every one bid, and they bid multiple times. This is the reason grandma’s do so well in Las Vegas. The casinos do not have a change the games are too easy. You are only using one deck while playing poker… armatures!

I do not understand we are afraid to let my grandma drive by her self, but she can play bridge! Guys she is having one over on us. Send her happy ass to Vegas and my us some money!

Triva Note: President Eisenhower played bridge regularly on Saturday night with top experts. He attended national bridge tournaments when possible. He enjoyed bridge as much as golf and he was considered an excellent player.
