In other news studies say tigers are eating too much junk food.

I would like to think I am not a bad person. I would like to think someone else’s pain would not make me happy. But in the case of Roy Horn being mauled by on of his white tigers I not. This made me laugh with glee. You see, in my opinion Siegfried and Roy have done more to hurt the plight of tigers then any 10 big game hunters ever.

Lets start with the “they make great pet’s” part. Siegfried and Roy have spent years teaching people tigers are our friends. They are not. A tiger is a carnivore that eats human sized animals. A tiger is a intelligent, strong and patent hunter. They kill by waiting and stalking. The first time you look into a tiger’s eyes you see animal that is plotting your death. This does not mean they are bad… that is what they do… it is part of nature, no matter what PETA says. In some way Roy got mauled because he forgot this.

Next let cover white tigers. Oh yes they are so cute. Everyone wants to go see the white tiger. If you love tigers you should shutter ever time you see a white one. White tigers are not a color phase. All white tigers are descendants of one animal. Bread back to it offspring and its offspring to each other. They currently are so inbreed they are being born with two chambered hearts and no strips. Isn't that cute. If you want to save tigers from extinction they are useless.

One out of ever 6 tiger in captivity is a white. Tigers cannot be house together in most cases and zoo space is limited. Most zoos have space for less then 4 tigers. There are two species of tiger and most tigers in captivity are mutts of the two. There is a debate in biology weather both spices can be save or if we will have mutt tigers in the future. Each white tiger you see has in some way kept a valuable tiger from being born. There just was not space in the ark.

So when a millionaire yahoo like Roy Horn gets mauled, I like to think the tigers won one. For the moment I am still cheering for the tigers.

hmm hooray tigers! Yea dog and pony shows.. or big cat and elephant shows really dont help those animals in the least. Patience is a virtue.. tigers are virtuous.

Of course, theose present will not forget your Haloween costume for 1996...

I think this artical is tasteless! I agree that Tiger's are born killers and should be left alone as wild animals and should be free to roam. But if you "cheer for death or pain", you have issues and you should seek help!

True… I am cheering for someone else’s pain. You have a valid point. Roy Horn is fighting for his life. For that he has my prayers. If he dies he will have died doing what he loved. But individual death and pain in the face of extinction is the point. What he has done in life lead him here. The tiger that mauled him will most likely be put to death for Roy Horn forgetting he was a tiger. All true stories end in death, by the species survives. I am worried about the species, both human and tiger. Right now it is tigers that are in trouble.
This is not a case of the innocent tiger attacking the bad human nor the other way around. This is about a species facing extinction and a man who spent his life so far hurting their chances for survival. You could shoot a lot of white tigers before I would be worried about tigers being extinct. You shoot one normal tiger and you better have a really good reason. This is about extinction.

For those of you who did not make it to the Haloween party for 1996. I dressed up as a friend of ours who had gotten mauled that year. Zoo uniform all riped up and a name tag with his name. He was alright.

Yes, he was quite alright, eventually. When the Fort Worth Zoo hosted the National Conference of the American Zoo and Aquarium Associationin around September 11, 2003, at the opening morning ceremony, he rendered (solo) both God Bless America and The Battle Hymn of the Republic, in a fashion that some (including Ramona) found deeply affecting, and others found only afflicting. I was not there (having used up all my Waco leave time to attend Preconfernce Taxon Advisory Group meetings, and confer, converse, and otherwise hobnob with my fellow wizards...)but I have it on the best authority that this performance was truly unique... in an unfortunate sort of way....
