What is with the General McQueen?

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation." -Big Book

Tonight a friend is going thru a rough time. Most of us are in I told you so mode. But having thought about it... she is the one who believed the best of someone and was disappointed... we just judge that person ahead of time and if we were wrong would have never known. Guessing the worst about someone will never make you right or them a better person and guessing the best of someone, wrong or not, does make you a better person. Hang in there Sarge!

Yes, I can honestly say she is the better person. I can say it and know that it is true for at least everyone that lives in my house. Being open and accepting is a wonderful trait in a friend.

However...

At what point does opptomissism become foolishness? At what point does not trusting those proven to you become a slap in thier face? At what point do you stop and listen to the facts about a situation before blind faith becomes stupidity?

Dropped into the Hot LZ, extracted the Sarge, took her to a safe zone, with rations of Ice Cream, and a movie with lots of good looking men in Goth type clothing and lots of guns (the guns were so I could ignore the lack of women in the movie), the movie also had a hidden meaning of no good with out the bad.

Mission successful, there was lots of oohhing and ahhing and then the women fought for dominance at my feet in the traditional style of tickling and wrestling.

Dropped the Sarge back into her home LZ and returned to the hanger.

"At what point does opptomissism become foolishness?"

... my feeling would be trusting the same person twice without them proving themselves.

The story of cupid and psyche comes to mind. You have to earn loves trust.
