Merry Christmas... or how shop for the family at 7-11
What is the most important day of the year? To me it is apparently December 23rd. I lost this day this year. I thought yesterday was the 22nd when it appears that it was in fact the dreaded December 23. Under this delusion I put off the last minute Christmas shopping and house cleaning traditional done on the dreaded December 23. So when I woke up this morning it was actually the real, honest to gosh last minute. So at 6am this morning I was at the grocery store shopping for Christmas dinner, this evening gift shopping and making sure I will actually have guests. This is why there is a Christmas Eve mass. Because once the store close to night … it is all in his hands. Sometimes we are not as prepared as we want to be. Merry Christmas All, and please forgive my panic.

Well, it's come full circle. Ten years after the "Evening wasted with the EAK", Natalie gave me a device to make tea with , AND SHE BOUGHT IT AT "LINENS n' THINGS".
Actually, it's a tremedously practical device from Germany (Braun), that heats large amounts of water in seconds, precluding the use of smelly matches and scary stove lightings. Natalie's very proud of herself. She also got me a CD of 16th Century Mexican liturgical music and a book on Indian coooking. I got her four ceramic fishes with wierd facial expressions (actually varius kinds of bathroom/kitchen accessories), a necklace of peculiar looking wooden beads, a book on Frida Kahlo, and a 53 year old discarded library book (A children's book on cats by Wilfred Bronson, who used to do scientific illustrations of fishes for the New York Zoological Society).
Hope your presents were fun.
