Well it is nineteen days

Well it is nineteen days until the wedding. We are doing well on wedding plans. K is down in Houston with her family. I will fly down on Thursday to spend Christmas with the family there. We have a list of things that need to be finished this week and while we are in Houston. I feel good about where we are with stuff.

I have these thoughts:

  • We have a growing list of people we need to thank; I need to work to make sure I can thank them all.

  • Things are going to go wrong; I know that, the one thing that matters is that K and I are married.

  • If I had one thing I could change, I would have everyone I have ever
  • known at the wedding. Any list of people in your life that you love is incomplete.
  • I have always wanted strong family ties. It is one of my failing that I have not been willing to pay the cost of having them.

  • For those of you, who will be there, I wish to say ‘thank you.’ Weddings are about people standing up and say we approve of these two being married.
  • Getting married is $75 and a couple of signatures. It is all of you that make it a Wedding.

  • There are people in our lives that do not have this right. They are our friends and loved ones. They want loving life long partnerships. It is the same goal I have. Do you want to be called a ‘Domestic Partner?’

P.S. I am sorry for the lack of updates. Jeff’s death hit me hard here. Every time I went back to post, I lost the heart for it.

Shooting

Last night, in Ohio, a man jumped on stage at the Damageplan show. He shot and killed 4 people and wounded at least two others. My friend Jeff who many of you may know as Mayham works security for them. Current reports are sketchy, but we think Jeff was been shot trying to protect Darrell the bands guitarist. Please keep him in your prayers.

Update: Police have release name of 3 of the 4 people killed. They were Darrell Abbott, Nathan Bray and Erin Halk. For those of you who are holding your breath, I am with you.

Update: There are reports that the two wounded where in the audiance and that the one of the people kill was a security person. None of this is confirmed. Still no word about Jeff.

Bizzard note: This shootings is exactly 24 years after John Lennon was shot to death in New York by a deranged fan.

Update: Jeff Thomson was shoot and killed last night attempting to defend the life of Darell Abbot guitarist of the band Damageplan. The world has lost a brave man.

I saw him just a couple of weeks ago. It is hard to imagine him gone. Jeff we miss you...

Update: IF you knew Jeff or if you want to know more about this much belove man here is a link

Theory...

There is a war over text books. With terms like neo-Darwinian theory, scientific materialism, and intelligent design, groups are fighting to get evolution thrown out of life sciences text books. I remember this fight from freshmen life science in High School. Our teacher was a creationist, but he did a very good job of being neutral about the subject of evolution. He told you where he stood and then gave you what the facts were. Most of us ended up believing as most scientists do. That God made life on this planet evolved over a long period of time. I am not sure why it is so hard to imagine that God could have created a world that evolved. You see us simple High School students and Scientist see the world without the labels like neo-Darwinian or creationism.

Speaking of labels… The Cobb County Board of Education in Georgia is requiring labels on life science text books that read:

This textbook contains material on evolution. Evolution is a theory, not fact, regarding the origin of living things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully, and critically considered.

Approved by Cobb County Board of Education Thursday, March 28, 2002

Swarthmore College's Natural Science department has a wonderful set of labels you can print for yourself to supplement these label. (Thanks Steve Jackson)
