U.S.: Airline terror plot 'close to execution'
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Terrorists were in the final stages of planning to blow up planes heading to the United States, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said Thursday. The U.S. raised the terror threat level to "severe" for all flights leaving Britain for the United States. Britain raised its alert level to "critical."
Yesterday, I found out that I need to be in DC for meetings Tuesday and Wednesday. I know this is the world I live in now. The flight I am taking is not from Heathrow to America. I know people in several parts of the world live with worse then this everyday. My flight is safe and I will be alright. But it is weird to think that people are trying to kill people like me to get news headlines.

All I know is that if I had to be on an overseas flight where I couldn't carry on any luggage at all, there would massive air rage coming from this normally peaceful 5 foot tall little girl. I might conceivably go crazy enough to pull out one of my weapon grade AH wooden hairstick specials (which being wood would make it through security) and stab the little kid sitting behind me kicking my chair. Without a book or sewing to keep me sane and calm, there is no telling what might happen, but it wouldn't be pretty.
Before you know, it won't just be carry-on luggage they won't allow on planes. All people will be banned from planes. You know, one of those passengers might be a terrorist and we wouldn't want anything to happen to the other passengers....
