Blog Like It's the End of the World

Alright, since this information is important I will be brief. K and I are good. Yes, our world (blogoshere/Livejournal) is in the middle of a Zombie uprising. I know there are a lot of panicked people out there, but stay calm. We need to get organized before night sets in. K and I have fortified the house. Since the second floor has no ground level windows we destroyed the stairs and have set up a ‘kill zone’ on the front door landing. So far it is working well. K or I can defend the area alone and give the other a chance to rest.

A couple of things if you haven’t read Max Brook’s book:
- Zack is as strong as his living counterpart was, however he is slow and has no agility.
- Zack can’t climb, run, or use tools; get to high ground and destroy the way up.
- Zack doesn’t get worn out, you can out run him, but you have to keep running.
- Zack is attracted to noise. For example gunshot! Shooting a zombie brings more of them!

If this uprising last more then a couple of days we need to start thinking about how we are going to survive long term. We need food, water and group defense. I have some ideas, by I need to know how many people we have left. Until then, keep someone on guard at all times and keep an eye on each other…

A moment of embarrassment

I have a hard time getting my mind wrapped around what I give up to go to school (24+ credits a year), work full-time and do faire. This is because I have amazingly supportive people in my life. Top of that list is my wife. The amount of husband time she has given up to support my dreams, plus two miracles, would qualify her for sainthood. You could include my boss on that list as well. Additionally, there are people who don’t even know they are on the list. My good friend Josef and his wife ran into me out at the faire on the last weekend. It was really good to see them. I suggested that we should go have dinner once faire was over. They pointed out I say the same thing ever year. It started me thinking about the real amount of things I give up. Yes, it is a much bigger list then I would have guessed. I owe a great deal to many many understanding friends and family. It is one more thing that motivates me to make it through this time.

King Lear vs. Paris Hilton

One of the things I do when I am on a conference call and not really paying attention, is run through the Reuters new photos. The photographers are good and it mixes two of my favorite things, current events and photography. This week it is filled with photos from the MTV (empty-V) movie awards. Lots of people in outfits that prove I will never get fashion trends. Then enter Megan Fox, who is in the upcoming movie version of Transformers (proving I will never get movie trends).

Yes she is young, a starlet and tan. Whatever… But wait, she has a tattoo on her shoulder that reads "We Will All Laugh at Gilded Butterflies." As someone who loves comic irony this good. Gilded butterflies sounded familiar, so I went to my second brain (google). Yes, it is:

“… so we'll live, and pray, and sing, and tell old tales, and laugh at gilded butterflies..” ~King Lear

Alright, I admit it. That is funny. Thank you, Ms. Fox for using comic irony to prove that you can be a bright young actor, well-read and woman. Thank you for proving all of you are not Paris Hilton.
