I love the rain!

I love irony. Yes, I send it little notes on St. Valentine’s Day and make sure I call it on its birthday. Currently I adore the things irony with weather. For those of you not in Texas, it is raining. Today we may get as much as three inches on top of a record for June. It has rained everyday I can remember this summer. What is ironic about this is that I am from Oregon where it rains like this for eight months a year. Everyone always asks ‘don’t you miss the rain?’ No, I don’t miss the rain any more then you miss 95 degree weather, right now. I like the rain, I like it when it is 95 degrees, I like thunderstorms and I like earthquakes (small one that don’t kill anyone). In a strange way they give the places I have lived character.

For all those people complaining about the rain, stop. Enjoy the change. Yes we had a lot of rain this year. However, stop and notice that is a beautiful 80 degrees and the grass is green. Think of it as getting to enjoy Oregon weather for a little while. Oregon right now is having Texas type weather and they are not enjoying the switch. Myself, I am, if nothing else, enjoying the irony.

Growing up in New Orleans, I'm used to rain every day. The only reason I am not enjoying the rain at the moment is because so many people have lost their homes to flooding. Not to mention the mosquitoes and flies remind me of life in Louisiana again (which is apparently, a lot like Oregon). If I could have the rain and cool weather without the loss of property, loss of life, and overabundance of bugs, I'd be right there with you!
